You’ve got questions, we’ve got answers.
How much? When? Can I? How long? There are many
uncertainties about moving. United Moving and Storage will assist you by
providing the answers and solutions to your concerns. Following are questions
which frequently are heard as families begin the moving process.
When is the best time to move?
If there is a choice, most moving companies suggest you
select a time other than summer or the end of the month. The heaviest demands
are placed on vans, equipment and personnel during summer months (June through
mid-September) when children are out of school and at the end of any month.
United Moving and Storage understands that there are many
factors which will influence your choice of when you move. We will help you
design a move that will accommodate your busy schedule.
When should I call a moving company?
The earlier the better. Though the actual van assignment
may not be made until a few days before your move, it is wise to give United Moving and Storage
from four to six weeks advance notice, if possible. The
more lead you can give, the more likely we will be able to meet your preferred
dates.
Can Clothes And Other Items
Be Left Inside The Furniture During The Move?
We recommend that all clothes and items be
removed from inside the furniture. This includes all desks, dressers,
armoires...etc. This makes the furniture much lighter and easier to move. It
also limits wear and tear to your furniture during the move. Generally the only
items of furniture that can be safely moved with items still in them are small
light pieces of furniture containing very light belongings inside (sweaters,
shirts, blouses, lingerie). Be careful NOT to leave fragile items and anything
that might spill or leak.
Can I Move Jewelry And Other
Valuables?
We strongly recommend that you carry irreplaceable and expensive articles such as
jewelry, money, antiques and stamp collections with you, or make other
arrangements for their transport.
Can I Move My Plants?
United Moving &
Storage cannot accept responsibility for safely moving your plants because they
may suffer from a lack of water and light as well as probable temperature
changes while in the van. You may prefer to transport your house plants in the
family car.
Can I Move My Pet?
Pets cannot be carried
on the moving van. Dogs, cats, canaries and parakeets can usually be
transported in the family car. If this isn't convenient, United Moving &
Storage will be glad to suggest alternate ways to ship your pets safely.
How we determine Travel Time?
Travel time is "the time it takes for the crew to
travel to your origin from their dispatch, and the return trip upon
completion". Travel time is not the time it takes to travel from your old
apartment to your new apartment; that is part of the work time. United Moving and Storage
determines total travel time (1 hour flat for moves in Toronto).
What is the minimum charge?
Most companies have a minimum number of work hours. United Moving and Storage
has a three hours (2 hours of labor plus 1 hour travel
time plus 9% fuel surcharge) Ask
us for a flat rate 416-788-6683 or orders@unitedmoving.ca
How and when should I pay the moving company?
Tariff regulations require that all charges be paid in
cash, money order, or certified cheque before your shipment is unloaded at
destination.
What types of payment do you accept?
Payment for your move can be made by one of the following
methods: cash or money order. In addition, the Visa or MasterCard can be used
too (with advance approval). Personal checks are not accepted.
Do I Tip The Movers?
Like
all over service businesses, tipping is not required. A tip is a reward for a
job well done. Do not feel obligated to give a tip if you feel it was not
deserved.
How long it will take to move me?
That depends on many factors, including the time of year,
weather conditions, time required to load and unload, and the direction and
distance your shipment is traveling. With the help of a centralized dispatching
system, pickup and delivery dates are usually scheduled according to your
needs.
These are average move time only.
